Project Details
The aim of this WordPress Bespoke Template was to transform a personal blog into a striking Community Portal where members can read sport articles, but also see realtime info about football leagues. The idea was to provide a social experience to members, so that they could interact with the others and also have fun participating to betting challenges and other community games.
The main feature of the site is a Bespoke Game which allows members to submit their predictions for the incomining fixtures, and then get points if their prediction was right. This Bespoke plugin comes with a flexible leaderboard and widgets, as well as several integrations with the theme to display predictions archives in various positions. The predictions are submitted by using a frontend form built with ACF (Advanced Custom Fields), and the fixtures data comes from a bespoke integration with a live scores plugin.
Another Bespoke Functionality developed for this project is a custom backend to add and manage various kind of adverts displayed across the site. They are a custom post type, categorized with some custom taxonomies, and the templateis then retrieving and displaying a random banner/link of the correct kind, for each advert space within the site.
There is also the option to pay for a Premium Subscription and some posts are limited to subscribers. The system is built using S2members plugin and custom integrations within the template files.
The general community system is managed with BuddyPress and a substantial amount of template customizations and integrations.
Particular effort has been used for achieving a stylish but clean graphic design, which has character but looks professional. I also took care of achieving an effective responsiveness of the layout in each different screen size. As the website is very vaste and contains a lot of different things, it was very important to ensure that visitors had all the important things at hand, whatever device they are using.
